Comme Des Garcons for H&M f/w 08 full collection.

A pleasant compromise. It’s wonderful to see Rei has decided to stick to her iconoclast roots to create an adventurous yet commercial line. The implement of CDG’s Shirt line authenticates the entire collection as true Comme Des Garcons.

The sparse fabric choices because of the budget of the line (nothing over 350$) only slowed Rei’s train of creativity as she opts to leave the safety net of simply cotton and synthetics. All the while, the lines created by the clothes garner classic CDG silhouette.

However, the limited quantities created a niche for Kawakubo’s usual avant-garde that was not completely filled. Some safe pieces were apparent, yet even they were a pleasant addition to the collection.

What separates Comme Des Garcon’s collaboration with H&M is their unisex perfume. Although, the thought of such might be befuddling. Whether if the scent is truly genderless, or even good, it manages to make this collaboration their very own.

I know its old new by now, but it still deserves posting. Gucci’s CEO Mark Lee has announced to step down by December 31, 2008. One of Frida Giannini’s few proponents, Mr. Lee has been able to keep Gucci in surplus after the shocking departure of Tom Ford and Domenico De Sole in 2003.
Taking his place is Bottega Veneta’s president and CEO Patrizio Di Marco on January 1, 2009. Di Marco will be succeeded by Marco Bizzari, CEO of Stella McCartney.

Gucci Group isn’t the only one experiencing a change of power. Cerruti SAS has named Florent Perrichon as the successor of Phillippe Cleach as CEO of the house. Jean Paul Knott will be staying creative director.

Calvin Klein is also facing a new face of power. Phillips-Van Heusen has promoted COO Tom Murry to president and CEO of Calvin Klein. Murry had 11 years of experience at Calvin, surviving its acquiring by PVH in 2002.

Lacoste USA’s CEO Robert Siegel is retiring after 7 years in the position. Succeeding him will be Robert C. Skinner Jr.
So what does this mean for us? We may experience a new influence in the respective runways, new boys being casted into new ads. And hopefully Frida will be succeeded.

I’ve known about this since NY showcards came out but I’ve forgot to write about it. One of Public Image Worldwide’s head agents shifted to Wilhelmina bringing with him a mass of heavy hitters.
Now calling Wilhelmina their home: Taylor Fuchs, Armando Cabral, RJ, Boyd Holbrook, current CK Jeans boy Jacques Naude, Kevin Flamme, and Zach Ferry
That wasn’t all the damage though. Luke Worrall now graces VNY and Philip Huang is noticeably missing from the Public Image website also.
So is Public Image doomed? Not really, but they have given up their title as one of male modelling’s onslaughts. Some bright new editorial boys are on their new faces board, the rising Lasse Pedersen, Moritz Meyer the stagnant (career wise) but unbelievably stunning Prada exclusive, and Josh Dagnall.
Their mainboard still has some old favorites, Clement Chabernaud, Danny Beauchamp (whose name is spelled wrong on the site), Boris Kolesnikov, David Gandy, Casey Taylor, Colin Dack, Doug Jewell, and Tom W. However, the mainboard also seems to be filled with safe, but very profiting commercial models.
Now about that massive women models drama…
